Your Practice Your Life gives you a blended collection of short, simple guided practices that unwind your mind & body for peace & wellbeing.

This will help you easily create your own personal daily or weekly practice. Use these short practices, alone or in combo, to fit into any busy day. No yoga expertise needed. 

Why short? Because, let’s face it, most of us are crazy busy. Despite the best of intentions, it is hard to carve out uninterrupted time for long practices on a consistent basis.

Life does take over. Life also throws curve balls, and gives you unexpected surprises. Having a short practice will help you to respond and support yourself through easy and difficult times. This makes all the difference. 

How short? All of the practice in Your Practice Your Life are between 5 & 20 minutes long. This is more than enough time to make a difference in how you feel.  Short, consistent practices are powerful and more impactful than long practices that happen inconsistently. 

Why a blend of practices? Because you are unique. And what you need most will change day to day and season to season. One day, you might need to move. On another, you might just need to lie down and relax while being guided away from the stress of your daily life.

You might never do ALL of the practices. That’s actually the point. Your Practice Your Life offers you a buffet. You get to choose the practices that are right for you right now, today. 

How are they offered? The monthly practices have been carefully crafted to align with the natural energy of each month and the seasonal cycles. After all, nature affects our bodies, minds and emotions all day, every day. Knowing what is happening in Nature each month will help you to find your own equilibrium through your practices and in your life.   

The practices are also offered by type so that you can revisit practices from previous months again and again. 

WHAT PRACTICES ARE INCLUDED?

ABOUT THE MONTH

Every month is introduced with information on natural and celestial events and a an overview of that month’s symbolism and significance. You might use this to guide your practice, or not. It’s up to you! 

MOVEMENT & YOGA FOR YOUR BODY

Every month includes at least three movement sequences and a technique teaching segment. 

  • Move & Stretch: For yogis and non-yogis alike. These stretch sequences can be done by anyone without any previous yoga experience. You can do them alone or string them together. 
  • Yoga: The yoga sequence assumes you know the basics of yoga but these practices are not complex nor require a huge amount of yogic skill. These are maintenance practices, lasting about 20 minute (30 when you add the ending savasana relaxation) designed to help you feel good in between your normal yoga class or physical activity. 
  • Techniques & Tips Teaching: Each month features a technique teaching. These videos will help you to get more from basic stretches, postures or movements or teach you how to build new shapes with your body safely & effectively. 

PRACTICES TO EASE YOUR MIND

Stress and/or anxiety affects everyone in the world today. These short practices are tools you can use to ease stress and find peace in your mind and body. 

  • Savasana Guided Relaxation:  Lie down. Close your eyes. Listen. For the next 7-9 minutes, allow your nervous system to shift back into its rest and relax mode. These relaxations can be done alone, before bed or between meetings. Or you can do them after a yoga, movement or exercise session. Full of imagery, these are also accessible to teens and kids. 
  • Breath Practice: Your breath is a mirror that reflects your mental and emotional state back to you. Are you breathing now? Calmly and fully? Or are you holding your breath? The techniques offered in Your Practice Your Life are simple and accessible. Some you can do with your eyes open as you prepare for a big meeting or an exam. Use them before bed to guide yourself into sleep or at the start of your day. Learn these techniques and use them over and over again. 
  • Guided Meditation: Most months will also include a short (4-6 minutes) guided meditation technique that will compliment the month and your other practices.
  • Guided Yoga Nidra Meditation Relaxation: Yoga Nidra is an ancient practice of guided systematic relaxation that helps to ease stress and anxiety, boost the immune system and rejuvenate and heal the body. This practice can be done by anyone. No yoga experience required. Simply lie down & listen.    (30-45 mins long - great before bed!) 

PRACTICES FOR YOUR HEART & EMOTIONS

Affirmations, mantras and journalling are powerful tools that can help you to tune into your inner emotions, desires and wisdom. Each month offers you a mantra and suggested journalling practices to explore. This may, or may not, be your thing. Use it if it resonates. 

  • Mantra / Affirmation: Comes as a printable PDF for your mirror, wall or desk
  • Journal Prompts:  Always linked to the theme of the month, these questions invite you to put pen to paper and see what you discover. 

PRACTICES TO CONNECT YOU INWARD

Today, we live our lives focused outward almost all the time. It is rare to have time and space to reflect, consider and listen inward. These practices invite you to do this. They also support your mental, physical and emotional wellbeing in a powerful way. 

  • Reflective Pause Practices: Only 1 minute long, these poetically-written offerings invite you to tune into your inner wisdom and calm. Listen while the kettle boils. Or while you wait for the next segment of your day to begin. Use these as the basis for your own quiet reflection practice. 

WHY ARE THE PRACTICES PRESENTED THIS WAY? 

You are a being that is made up of different elements or ‘rooms’. These are your Body, Mind, Heart & Spirit. The rooms of your being are interconnected just like the rooms of your home. 

On any one day, you might feel that your physical body needs support or your mind is stuck in stress or that your heart feels heavy or that something is nudging you from within. You can easily select practices that will support these different parts of your being in Your Practice Your Life.

Don't forget that all of these practices work together with each other and can be connected in different ways! Trust your instinct when choosing. What feels easiest and most accessible? Your own inner wisdom will guide you in this.  And remember...any work that you do on one aspect of your being will support the other parts of you. 

WHEN ARE NEW PRACTICES ADDED? 

New practices will appear in the library from the first of the month onward. Once a month finishes, the practices will be grouped by type so that you can easily and quickly access this growing library of content. 

DO I NEED ANY SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE OR SKILL TO PRACTICE? 

No! That's the whole point of Your Practice!! Short, sweet and simple...easily accessible but effective. Of course, when online, it is up to you, the individual, to assess whether the practice is right for you & your body. 

If you are pregnant or suffer from specific injuries, or disease, please consult your physician and modify any movement accordingly. You can also reach out to me for specific modification guidance and advice. 

DO I NEED ANY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT? 

No! You really don't need anything but a few minutes, a bit of floor space and a quiet place to do these practices. Some practices can be done when you are out & about. If you want to get a bit fancier, a non-essential prop list is included as a guide. 

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I PRACTICE? 

Ideally, a daily practice of some kind will support your being - mind, body, heart & soul. However, if you are new to a practice, let yourself fit something in a few times per week. Gradually, over time, you may find that you miss the practice on the days that you skip it. And PS. given that some of the practices are only a few minutes long, they will fit into any schedule! 

WHAT DO I GET? 

As long as your membership is active, you will have access to the entire library of practices.
